🤖 Microsoft Copilot Studio

🟢 Just shippedGA 2026-09-08

Copilot Agent Kit September 2026

The Power CAT kit ships Agent Inventory V2 on a Code App based architecture with richer governance insights, usage analytics and component visualization, and extends inventory and governance coverage to GitHub Copilot agents through harness support. New governance metadata fields cover MCP Lists, Connected Agents, Evaluations and Agent Owner ID; the Agent Review tool gains version history to compare assessments across published agent versions, the Agent Debugger is redesigned with session selectors, transcript filters and slowest-step navigation, and the Agent Change Tracker adds audit history analytics.

Why it matters: Gives a partner team a maintained, tenant-wide inventory and audit trail for Copilot Studio agents instead of building governance tooling from scratch.

Ask Copilot about highlighted response content

Highlight a sentence, paragraph, or table from the response and ask Copilot to work only on that selection. Get focused explanations, concise summaries, quick translations, or next steps for the exact passage you’re reviewing—no more over broad answers. Your selection is previewed in the prompt so you can edit before you send. It’s a faster, more controlled way to get help right where you’re working.

Enhanced personalization with memory in Copilot

🧠 Microsoft 365 Copilot & Apps

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Oct 2026

Microsoft Teams: Meeting Shared Files

Users will be able to add files and links to a meeting so the content is shared automatically with every participant. AI in the meeting, including the Facilitator agent, uses those files for targeted grounding when answering questions and running skills. Roadmap 570427, listed for Android, Desktop, iOS, Linux and Mac.

Why it matters: Meeting files become an explicit grounding source, so what gets attached before a call changes what Copilot and Facilitator can answer in it.

🤝 Copilot Cowork

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Oct 2026

Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention for Microsoft Cowork

Purview DLP extends to Microsoft Cowork so a single policy covers both Microsoft 365 Copilot and Cowork: it can prevent the use of labeled knowledge sources, block prompts containing supported sensitive information types, and restrict sensitive prompts from being sent to Bing for web search. Roadmap 570845, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) only, preview September 2026 and GA October 2026.

Why it matters: Closes the gap where Cowork sat outside the Copilot DLP boundary, and the worldwide-only tenant scope is the detail to check before committing it to sovereign or GCC customers.

Multimodal capture in Copilot Notebooks (Android)

Multimodal capture enables users to transcribe audio, take images, and type notes in a single session. Copilot then creates a structured Copilot Page with insights and user-captured content, saved to a user-selected Copilot Notebook. Designed for capturing offline work moments—including in-person conversations, whiteboard sessions, and personal notes. This capability is already generally available on OneNote for iPhone and iPad.

🛡️ Agent 365 & Agent Governance

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Oct 2026

Copilot Analytics: Agent value insights in the Agent 365 Dashboard

The Agent 365 Dashboard in Microsoft Viva Insights adds value insights showing the estimated assisted hours agents provide and the types of work contributing to that value, on top of the existing adoption view. Roadmap 570847, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant), preview September 2026 and GA October 2026.

Why it matters: Gives adoption and change teams a first-party number to put against an agent rollout instead of usage counts alone.

🏭 Microsoft Foundry

🟢 Just shippedPreview 2026-09-08

Codename MDASH brings agentic AI security scanning to US government

MDASH runs more than 100 specialized AI agents over source code to find exploitable vulnerabilities by reasoning about code flow, with a second group of agents validating the findings; it scores 96.55 on the CyberGym benchmark. It runs on the FedRAMP High authorized Microsoft Foundry service in Azure Government and is in preview for select US government customers and authorized partners only, so source code stays inside that compliance boundary; the new MAI Cyber 1 Flash model is expected to roughly halve the cost of a scan.

Why it matters: A concrete reference for a large multi-agent workload on Foundry, though the Azure Government and FedRAMP scoping puts it out of reach for EU and Swiss customers today.

⚡ Power Platform & Power Automate

🟢 Just shippedDeprecation 2026-09-09

Deprecation of the help chatbot in the Power Automate maker portal

Effective 9 September 2026 Microsoft removes the Power Virtual Agents help chatbot from the lower-left corner of every Power Automate maker portal page, so makers can no longer use it to ask Power Automate questions. Help and support consolidate into the Help (?) menu in the upper-right corner. Cloud flows, desktop flows, connectors and other Power Automate functionality are unaffected and no admin action is required.

Why it matters: Internal training material and runbooks that point makers at the in-portal chatbot need updating now that it is gone.

📁 SharePoint & OneDrive

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Oct 2026

OneDrive: Sync support for up to 1 million items on macOS

OneDrive sync on macOS raises the supported ceiling to 1 million items. The preview requires the Insiders ring and devices that meet minimum hardware and configuration requirements; devices that do not meet them continue to sync at the existing 300,000-item limit with no disruption. Roadmap 570448, listed for Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant), GCC, GCC High and DoD; preview October 2026, GA June 2027.

Why it matters: Removes a hard ceiling for Mac users on large document libraries, but the Insiders-ring and hardware gates mean it is not something to plan a migration around yet.

📧 Outlook & Exchange

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Oct 2026

Outlook: Categorize emails by dragging them onto a favorite category

A category can be pinned to Favorites and messages dragged onto it to apply that category, instead of opening menus or right-clicking each message. Roadmap 567319, updated 8 September 2026, for new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant).

Why it matters: A small triage change worth folding into end-user guidance for tenants already moved to the new Outlook.

Planner: Task History

Planner adds a task history view showing recent activity on a task: what changed, when it changed, and progress over time. Roadmap 569933, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant), on web and in Teams.

Why it matters: Gives Planner an audit trail that teams currently have to reconstruct from notifications.

microsoft.com

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Nov 2026

Planner: Add times to task start, finish, and due dates

Tasks gain specific times on start, finish and due dates. A plan can define its own time zone and working hours to supply default task times, and members choose whether to view times in the plan time zone or their local one. Roadmap 570153, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant), on web and in Teams.

Why it matters: Makes Planner workable for distributed teams whose deadlines currently collapse to a date with no time zone.

⚙️ M365 Admin & Compliance

🟡 Coming soonPlanned Dec 2026

Microsoft 365: Teams Channel Backup

A backup and recovery feature that restores Teams team and channel data to a previously known good state after accidental changes or a security compromise. Supported items are the team, standard, private and public channels, and the underlying data including files and channel messages; the supported retention period is 30 days. Roadmap 570668, Targeted Release, Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant), surfaced in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Why it matters: First-party recovery for Teams channel data, which today usually means a third-party backup product in the tenant.
